Yes, I'm digging up my old profile AGAIN from the comfy grave it was just settling into.

Yes, I have a purpose for doing so this time.

Yes, I subscribed to Core membership to facilitate commission work.

And yes, I still do art stuff.

I'm a wee bit rusty, but I am armed with my phone's sketchbook app and Procreate on my iPad. Until I find a job, at least, I would like to keep myself busy with attempting to do commission artwork for the general populace.

No, I have no idea how to do this.

Please, be gentle and patient as I figure out how to navigate this strange world commission work. I appreciate you.

Thank you for hanging in there.

Well, it does. Whether we like it or not.

I've graduated high school last month, managed to give a graduation speech without having a complete panic attack, and college starts for me in August... In my opinion, time goes by waaaayyyy too fast. Much too fast to actually get a job and hold it. What sense is there to start working and then have to quit a month later? My college is a state or two away, mind you. Don't get me wrong, though. I've tried and applied before, during high school. It just never worked. Either I didn't have a car, or I wasn't eighteen, or I didn't quite fit.

So, as final orientation and dorm move-in day approaches ever closer... I thought of doing commission work to get a sort of income rolling in. Whether it be writing small stories or drawing or painting. I just don't know much about this business. How does it work? How does the client get the original artwork and how would I receive payment? Mailing, probably... But what about privacy with addresses or whatever?  I'd kinda like to avoid any stalkers and getting random and creepy gifts in the mail. What about currency that isn't in US dollars? I figured I would just shove the questions out there and see what answers echo back.

And I know I gotta upload more pictures on here for better examples. I'm working on it. Somehow I've switched back to traditional media and put the tablet away for a bit. I'll toggle between paper and tablet depending on the commission.

Let me know what you think, please? I need to get this ball rolling as soon as possible. Constructive criticism is always appreciated as well.

I find it kinda funny how I haven't written another of these journal things since 2009.... > 3> Well, it's 2012 now... Heh heh

Might be because I hardly have time to upload new stuff, and I often forget that I CAN write in this.

Anyway. I feel as if I'm running out of steam with art. D: Which I'm horrified about. I blame school, life, and whatever happens next after high school. Losing my niche with art and the unpredictability of the future are equal on the "I'm fuckin' scared of this" list.

I like how easy it is to upload pieces while using my tablet, but I've been finding that my pictures look better on traditional media. There just seems to be more in the picture on paper than the picture on the screen. I don't know how to create certain/many effects through traditional methods, which I guess the tablet sorta fills that space...

I've been thinking of just sketching out my pictures in black-and-white on paper, then scanning them to edit/color on my tablet... Or something.

Any ideas?

Ideas could be anything from suggested materials, techniques, media to picture ideas, etc...

I think I've been sketching my RP/story characters a bit too much... <._.'> The story I have yet to make significant progress in...

Thanks for any and all help, anyone...

'Ello, being as I'm new to D.A. I might as well freely admit that I'm a newbie. (>.> ) Just to get that out of the way so no one can rank on me...Currently, I've been working on stories and figuring out how to use deviantart to get my art out there.

Umm...what else do you put on these fricking journal things???
